The November issue of Golf Magazine included a feature, “Travelin’ Joe’s (Passov) Favorite Five”, which included the Brainerd Lakes area, particularly Deacon’s Lodge and the Classic at Maddens Resort.
The November 30 Sunday issue of the Miami Herald carried “Rooms with a view – of museum-quality art,” wherein writer Alia Akkam tells of the “cutting edge” works from ‘Young British Artists’ who are well-represented in the collection at the Chambers Hotel in Minneapolis.
The November 23 Sunday New York Post had a fascinating story, “Saudi King’s Minny Mart,” that told of Saudi Arabian King Abdullah bin Abdulabiz’s “entourage of hundreds” that descended on Rochester November 15, 2008, with “at least two 747 jumbo jets”. His four wives, seven sons and 15 daughters reportedly spent at least $1.5 million at malls, hotels, restaurants and bars while in town.
The December issue of Cooking Light magazine published “Romantic road trips,” including Duluth – North Shore – Ely as an “idyllic trip”.
The January issue of National Geographic Adventure’s “Instand Adventures” section ran “Minnesota-Howl In The North Woods,” describing some of the programs at the International Wolf Center, Ely.
