The estimated total expenditure in 2006 for wildlife watching in Minnesota was almost $699 million.

Of that total, $271.5 million was trip-related, approximately as follows:

Food: $116.8 million
Lodging: $75.4 million
Transportation: $68.8 million
Other trip costs: $10.4 million*
TOTAL: $271.5 million

* Other trip costs: guide fees, equipment rental, land use fees, boat fuel, heating and cooking costs
